Earthing Augers

Tebco has developed a unique 150 OD x 4.2m long Auger with a rock cutting head. The rock Augers comes in two pieces and can be used as a 2.1m or 4.2m auger with the option of adding more sections if you require. This is great for use in height-restricted areas and eliminates the need to bring in a separate machine for drilling earthing holes. This is proving to be very cost-effective and useful for all operators who concentrate on the drilling for the powerline industry, but can be used in many other applications as well.

Triad & Double Rock Augers

The TRIAD series is a precision-engineered rock Auger designed and developed by Tebco. The revolutionary design utilises three cutting edges to increase your drilling efficiency. The quality, drilling efficiency and increased consumable life, set a new benchmark for the rock and powerline drilling industries. The TRIAD is fast becoming our signature rock Auger as the word spreads in drilling circles.

We have had instances of rigs being on-site drilling for days and getting nowhere. A recent example being a powerline site in the Greater Sydney district where an operator began drilling at 1:00 pm and finished at 6:00 pm, then began again at 6 am, the next day, our Auger arrived onsite at 2:30 pm and the hole had only reached a depth of 1400mm. The required depth was 3.8m, a Tebco TRIAD was fitted to the machine and within 40 minutes the operator had reached the 3.8m target, the only difference being the Tebco TRIAD, the results speak for themselves!

What Is A Rock Auger?

A rock Auger is a specially designed drill attachment that is used to excavate hard rock. The Auger design utilises a rotating pick tooth to maximise the penetrative capacity of the drill. A rock Auger’s design enables the teeth to fracture heavy duty rock and the drill to penetrate ground normally impervious to a standard Auger. Rock Augers are generally made from the highest grade steel to ensure optimum drilling performance. They can withstand the toughest applications and ground conditions. A variety of rock Auger diameter sizes are available to ensure drills are useful in a full range of applications, from shallow pitch flights used in soft fracturable rock to wider flight edges used in harder ground types.

Are Augers Dangerous?

High efficiency cutting heads rotate at an extremely fast speed. Rotating rock picks also kick up very hard rock during operation. Operation of a dedicated rock Auger requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). A safe distance must also be maintained between non-operators and the Auger itself.

What Is The Best Auger?

Tebco Augers provide superior quality wear parts. Our standard heavy duty design is optimised for a range of different ground conditions. We supply a variety of high efficiency Augers with flight thickness of different sizes that are useful in a full range of drilling conditions. Augers can be attached to drive adaptors using our wide range of hex hub options. Drill fluid can be used to maximise your drilling performance and increase maximum drilling depths. Using drill fluid like bentonite also grants your Tebco Auger a longer life by lubricating the fracturable rock and reducing stress on the pick teeth. The combination of an Auger, drive adaptor, and drill fluid is the best way to achieve optimum project outcomes.

How Do You Install Auger Teeth?

Auger teeth often wear out with extended use. When they need to be replaced, simply place a punch in the groove at the back of the tooth and hit the punch with a hammer to dislodge the tooth. Simply slide the new tooth into the existing drive unit until it clicks into place. Hit the head of the tooth with a soft head mallet and the tungsten tips will shatter, causing it to lock in place.
